I am really proud to be offering the UCD Caprifig.

UCD Mini was introduced by Hussain, aka treesofparadise, on FigBid. "The mother tree is an edible caprifig that I discovered in Davis, California. The tree is extremely productive all year. The brebas from the tree are loaded with pollen but not edible. The main crop figs (see pictures) ripen late (around October and November), but they are edible, sweet, of very good quality, and no spoilage."

After evaluating it in 2024, his claim is true. While the main crop was very late to ripen here in the Philadelphia area, it was exceptional. An eating experience like none other I've had and almost "felt" pollinated.

The brebas, aka profichi, are numerous, large, and filled with pollen.

This is the perfect variety for colonizing the fig wasp, hand pollination, or breeding purposes. In 2025, I attempted to graft this variety onto my caprifig in my greenhouse to be able to harvest the pollen as early as possible.

I also planted a large tree in the soil to help spread this variety. It's very special.
