Florea solves both issues. Its main crop ripens as early as possible. And that's not just 1 fig here and there. It starts off the fig season, ripening handfuls of figs. It also produces a light breba crop equal in quality to its main crop.
Florea can split after rain, but I found that after having it in the ground for years, it's quite rain-resistant. Its main issues are mold found in the eye and ants.
They won't dry on the tree well, but Florea is much better-tasting when you are patient. Let them shrivel a little bit, and you'll be rewarded with a decently strong berry flavor. Overall, the eating quality is much better than collectors give it credit for.

Unlike many other fruits, the fig can be destroyed in its final ripening stage. It's a soft fruit that can absorb water into its skin causing cracking, splitting, mold & fermentation all because the inside of the fruit gets exposed to the outside elements of nature.
An apple has a hard covering. A persimmon has a hard covering. Berries and other soft fleshed fruits are also susceptible to bad weather conditions, but they have a short window of time in which they're soft and ready to be picked. Figs can be soft hanging on the tree for 5, 10 or even 15 days!
