This variety originates from the USDA's collection. It's a genetic hybrid of Ficus carica (the fig tree we know and love) and its closest relative, Ficus Palmata. Ficus Palmata tends to be exceptionally vigorous, earlier ripening, and less hardy than Ficus Carica. It's also root-knot nematode-resistant, making it one of the best choices for rootstock in warmer growing zones (9+).

This particular variety has garnered attention, however, for its amazing eating experience. Requires pollination to ripen fruit. This would be a great choice for someone in California or like myself who is hand-pollinating their figs.
