Desert King, also known as the "King" fig, is special for producing high-quality and abundant breba figs. As a San Pedro fig, its second crop needs pollination, but the breba crop does not. If pollinated, the Desert King will yield very tasty main crop figs. Without pollination, the main crop figs will drop off and be inedible. Despite this, Desert King is one of the best and most reliable producers of early and tasty figs.

Breba figs are of high value, so I've acquired numerous sources of this amazing breba producer. This Desert King comes from Fruitwood Nursery and is among the 5-10 sources of Desert King I am trialing in the soil here in the Philadelphia area.

Fruitwood Nursery claims the following: "A type of Desert King fig that came from the gardens of the late Sam and Marjory Hoops at 3,000' in the mountains above Orleans, CA. While very similar to regular Desert King its leaves and fruit have enough differences to list as a separate variety."
