For good reason, Longue d'Aout (LdA) is widely grown all over the world. It's one of the most commonly found fig varieties. The most obvious reason is due to the size of the figs. The breba crop produces figs 100-200 grams each, and the main crop is regularly 65 or more grams. The figs are absolutely massive! Just watch the short in the listing where I compare them to pears.

Its breba crop is one of its best traits. Not only are they large, but they're plentiful and ripen a bit later, a great feature for filling the gap between the breba crop and the main crop.

It's also one of the hardiest fig varieties in existence; it ripens early enough for even the shortest seasons and grows strongly.

I have always been impressed with its flavor. It has a cotton candy sweetness with a stronger berry flavor when allowed to properly ripen. The variety can struggle in humid areas. The skin tends to absorb water quite easily, lowering the quality, but they're amazing when you can get them right. Highly recommended for dryer/short season locations. It's one of the best-tasting fig varieties for sure.
