If not synonyms, Violet Sepor, Bourjassotte Grise, and Socorro Black are very similar varieties. Choose one and you'll be a very happy fig grower. They're among the best-tasting and best-performing varieties you can grow. However, they do not produce a reliable breba crop, their hardiness is unknown, they do not like heavy pruning, and the main crop ripens mid to late season.

According to Condit, Bourjassotte Grise was introduced to California from the Chiswick collection. Today, you can find both Sepor and Bourjassotte Grise growing at Prusch Park in California and Socorro Black was introduced by a grower in Socorro, New Mexico.
