I’ve been hard at work, overhauling the organization of content on the website to make it easier for you to find exactly what you’re looking for. Over the years, I’ve created hundreds of guides and videos on growing fig trees, but as time passed, much of that information became buried.
Many of you have been with me long enough to know your way around, but for someone just starting in the world of figs, the sheer volume of information could be overwhelming. I wanted to make sure those resources were easy for everyone to find.
I've created 3 new directories that are designed to bring all those resources back to the surface in a stable, easy-to-navigate format.
Unlocking the Blog Archive
In the past, the homepage only displayed the six most recent posts, which meant over 160 in-depth articles were difficult to access. To fix this, I’ve built a Blog Directory that houses every guide I’ve ever written. By using the new jump-to buttons at the top of the page, you can skip the scrolling and go straight to the categories that matter to you, such as Winter Care, Pruning, or Propagation.
Finding a specific video used to mean wrestling with the YouTube search bar, which isn't always reliable for finding specific topics. The new Video Directory now categorizes over 250 videos directly on the site. Whether you’re looking for pest management tips or variety showcases, the organized navigation menu lets you find the right tutorial without having to guess the right keywords in a search engine.
After a major technical error caused the previous database to crash—requiring days of work to recover—I’ve rebuilt the Fig Variety Database from the ground up to be "crash-proof." I’ve streamlined the list to focus on the varieties that offer the most value, reducing the "noise" and highlighting the ones you ought to learn about. You can now click on each variety to see photos and learn about their specific traits.
The goal of these changes is to turn the website into a true encyclopedia for fig growers. By moving away from a "newest-only" feed and toward a categorized system with instant navigation buttons, I hope to save you time and make your growing season a little more successful. Everything from years-old articles to the latest videos is now just a click away.
I'm Ross, the "Fig Boss." I've been educating the world on the wonderful passion of growing fig trees for a decade. Apply my experiences to your own fig journey to grow the best tasting food possible.
