Salato - A new impressive local Italian fig variety

For those that will miss my posts on OurFigs, I've decided to continue my postings as the season progresses here on the blog.

This is Salato. Quite a special variety. Bifere. I'm really liking how productive, easy to fruit and how early it is. The shape is great too. They shed rain well and shouldn't split that often. The flavor/texture reminds me a lot of Sucrette (Baud) or Cul Noir. Very good texture, mild flavor, but sweet. Can't wait until it matures. I'm curious to see how it'll change now that I planted it in ground.
